Britannia

Played Britannia yesterday at the club. Fantasy flighht version, so beautiful components.

Game played well - four players. Managed to get to turn 8 of 16 in just over two hours.

Which were two good hours of gaming but also a little frustrating as each players power ebbs and flows meaning that you need to play a full game for each player to get a proper chance at scoring.

Happy to play again, but needs an afternoon to play.

Also let Tom and Steve play Summoner Wars. Steve's first game which he enjoyed and won, Playing Goblins (sneeks).

Hammerhead 2011

Went to the Hammerhead show yesterday. Was a pleasant relaxed but not exciting show.

Played my first game of Hordes. Was good but getting my head around fury was a challenge.

Also played a game of Cowboys bs Zombies. This was a good set up but the rules were too detailed for a game at a con. Needed something just above Last Night on Earth in complexity.

Purchased a few pieces but wasn't a shoppers show.

Firestorm Armada

Played a second game of FSA on tuesday. Used my new star mat from Hotzmats for the first time and it looked mighty fine.

Game was based on a recon mission from FWC and went well. Plenty of cinematic moments of ships blowing up, getting lost in hyperspace and a daisy chain of mines going off.

All good fun and keen to revisit.

Also played Summoner Wars. A damn fine game that will be a staple end of night game.

Blogging again

Been a long while since I blogged. Put it down to the new job. Anyway, Brackley games club has become a staple part of my week now, so am gaming regularly. Add in gaming with the kids and it's all good.

Recent games etc have included Twilight Struggle, Summoner Wars, Warmachine, Kremlin, Ticket to ride, and Firestorm Armada.

Painting has been focussed on Warmachine and the Mahdists for Patrols in the Sudan, with the addition of a Britannia fleet for Dystopian Wars.

Latest purchase was Shadows over Camelot which I got from a visit to The Games Keeper in Oxford. Feel I should have got Kingsburg instead but we'll see how we get on.
